A: Random Mind Games challenges the conventional model of RPG publishing by replacing stacks of supplements with an online member community and a system designed for the internet age from the ground up. Many of us have left a character sheet or rulebook behind or couldn't find the information we were looking for quickly, because it was buried deep in a system of irrelevant information that outweighed the Library of Congress. Never again will you collect an avalanche of world books, equipment catalogues, and character handbooks, only to have a rules revision put them out of date. Gone are the days when experimenting with a new genre or time period meant either buying even more books or learning a whole new system. The industry is crying out for a system that steps beyond the old fashioned "publish or perish" mentality and promotes community and inventiveness. A system that supports its players and draws them together to share in a hobby that develops the mind, creativity, and comradery!
At Random Mind Games, we put players first. We use internet technologies like print-on-demand publishing, electronic distribution, Wiki-based game development, and online forums, not as an afterthought but as integrated system components, to allow ready access for a community of players and game masters just like you. The synergistic backbone of the system is the membership. When one member writes a character, episode, or a world that others find useful, they become the developers and the game grows according to its own needs. With the advent of the Internet, the open source model of development is the future of the role playing industry.
There is only one book required to play Qi: Living Energy and no line of supplements. The focus is on developing a membership of players whose games and characters are managed through a centralized website. Players simply log on to their account, access up-to-the-minute information, find players in their area, search for story ideas or pull down complete ready-to-run episodes, as well as post their own work and get input that improves their game.
Random Mind Games guarantees a maximum of one week turn around time on any information or approval request made to our staff via electronic means such as email, PM, or forum post, with most occurring in 24-48 hours. If we miss the deadline for one of our subscribing members, we will credit their account for 3 free months of membership (90days). All you have to do is let us know, and we will make it right.
